20 Years of Connection: Ishmun Holcomb’s RiverCenter Story

May 30, 2025

For two decades, Ishmun “Ish” Holcomb has been a familiar face at RiverCenter—not just behind the scenes, but in the heart of the action. As our Event Coordinator, Ish plays a vital role in bringing performances to life and ensuring that every guest has an unforgettable experience. But for Ish, working at RiverCenter is about much more than logistics—it’s about people.

“I have met thousands and thousands of people through RiverCenter—all different cultures, the mayor—and that’s what makes it so important to me,” he says. “The connections, the fellowship, the people I’ve met from all walks of life.”

That passion for community connection is part of what has made Ish such an integral part of the RiverCenter story. From his first show, Seinfeld, which he recalls feeling “just like watching the actual sitcom,” to the countless performances he’s helped bring to the stage, Ish continues to be inspired by the energy and diversity of Uptown Columbus.

Outside of work, Ish devotes his time to coaching youth league sports, mentoring kids, and staying active in the community. A former high school marching band drummer, he knows a thing or two about keeping the rhythm going—both on and off stage.

“I love the opportunity to meet people and put a smile on the patrons’ faces,” he says.

Whether you’ve seen a show at RiverCenter or you’re planning your first visit, chances are Ish has had a hand in making your experience special. His dedication, heart, and joy are just a few of the reasons why RiverCenter is more than just a building—it’s a place where connections are made.
